Care Instructions
Easy Cleaning Methods:
-
Cleaning your Coir Mats regularly is always recommended to keep your mat looking its best.
-
When dirt or debris builds up, give your doormat a gentle shake off or a decent tap on the backside of the mat.
-
You can also scrape off dirt and debris with a stiff brush or give your Coir Mat a gentle vacuum.
Please Note:
- Try to keep your mat out of the rain wherever possible - Although Coir is naturally stain, rot and mildew resistant, like us, it doesn’t love to get its hair wet! Wherever possible, we recommend keeping your mat undercover and away from regular and direct rain. Saturation can cause the natural tannins of the fibres to change colour.
-
Backing - As we use a natural latex backing (not PVC), when moving or shaking your mat please do so with care to ensure the backing does not crack. For larger Mats (650 x 1200mm) we recommend holding the mat with two hands on each side to avoid too much weight on one side, which can cause tearing or cracking of the backing.
-
Shedding - Our eco-friendly Coir Mats are tightly bound to limit shedding as much as possible. However being a natural material, coir mats will always shed to some degree. Particularly when you start to use your mat. Shedding will settle and minimise in time.
Our Jute Mats are designed to be used inside, to offer an extra layer of protection for your floors. To keep your Jute Mat looking its best, please follow the cleaning methods and notes below.
Easy Cleaning Methods:
- Regular vacuuming of your Jute mat is recommended to keep it looking fresh and free of dirt build-up.
- You can also gently shake out your Jute mat to dislodge any stored particles.
- Treat spots and spills immediately with warm water and pat dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Please Note:
- Backing - Our Jute Mats have a natural latex backing to help them stay in place on hard surfaces. Please ensure the surface is clean before laying your Jute Mat in position.
- Sunlight - Where possible, avoid long periods of direct sunlight from hitting your jute mat as this can discolour the jute fibres and cause fading.
- Shedding - Depending on the weave, some strands of Jute Mat pop out of place from time to time. Loose strands can be twisted and pushed back into place. Light shedding can sometimes occur initially.
